| Zut alors! Whatever shall I do? How can one man stand against such sophistication, subterfuge, and intimidating grammar?

| Just left a message for Pelosi - "I oppose HR6304*... urge to pull from House schedule... don't want to see the headline 'Pelosi leads Democrats to join with President Bush for warrantless spying on American citizens'... would help her next primary challenger**"
* FISA rewrite that grants unconditional retroactive immunity to telcos (or others). This was /written/ by Democrats (Steny Hoyer).

Man, Clinton got a blowjob from one, or at most a handful of women. Bush is getting blown by 3/4 of Congress. And the Congressional record has the stains to prove it. | comments: Leave a comment |

| So this is kinda cool. I picked up my phone this evening to find a voicemail waiting (odd, as I rarely get any actual calls) from Craig Herrera of NBC11 Weather. He was calling to get some more information on a photo I submitted to their gallery at nbc11@veeker.com so John Farley could use it on their morning weather update.

San Francisco, Mission & Main Streets looking NW as the sun reflects off of the windows, scattering through the last wisps of morning fog. Looked like a comet.
Color me mildly chuffed.
Update: I guess they got my phone message sooner than I expected - they just now flashed the pic after the weather report on the 11 o'clock news. Probably a bit bigger of an audience than the 5-7am slot :) | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |

| After procrastinating getting lunch as long as I could bear, I ventured out into the wild, with the singularly unoriginal destination that is the Default Office Cafe (wow, that would be a great business name... ). Upon arrival, I discovered that it was packed full of followers of Oracle, who were conventioning nearby. Thus thwarted, I made my way into the bowels of the Westfield Mall, searching for something fast and easy to eat. In the giant upscale (sadly non-union) mega-mart Bristol Farms. I spotted a pre-made sandwich, found the drink, paid, and headed back.
As I was walking back, I was reviewing my accomplishment - I'd found a convenient baquette sandwich (Jambon de Paris). Since the style and meat were French, I said 'why not?' and grabbed a Perrier instead of San Pelligrino. I almost stopped in my tracks as I had that moment of great Dorkitude Awareness - I'm carrying a baguette sandwich and a Perrier, wearing my low-rise flare-leg faded jeans.... and a souvenier t-shirt with a giant "Paris" (ville lumiere) logo on it.
I think the only thing that saved me from a beating was that I wasn't singing 'La Marseillaise'. | comments: 10 comments or Leave a comment |
| 26 years ago today, I stood (much shorter then) in my driveway looking off to the Southwest at the cloud-but-not-quite-a-cloud from this beautiful, stunning, devastating, unforgettable, spectacular event -

| | Heh. Not Really. But the ferry IS stopping right now, and all the alarms are going off while they perform their monthly "Man Overboard" drill. First I've experienced in 16 months of riding the ferry, so I guess they vary the shifts. Amusing and mildly comforting, especially when I lean off the back snapping pictures. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |

| Ted's in the boss's office right now. Seems he 'lost' three of his accounts. No idea how that could have happened, nope! Jeni is on the stepladder changing the leaderboard right now (damn, that's a fine short skirt), and - well how about that, my name's moving from second to first and poor Ted, well, looks like he's gone from first to fourth. Rule #67 - Guard your Rolodex with your life! Next month's promotion to the lucrative South-Central Region is as good as mine, and boy are those Southern Hospitality kickbacks sweet.
I'll be celebrating at One Market tonight, and I'm on a hot streak. When I'm on a roll like this, with my 'benz, Armani, and a tray of Strawberry Daiquiris, you know I won't be having breakfast alone! Tee-time is 11:40 tomorrow - don't forget your cash! | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |
